What the CAISO renewables API returns

Renewable output is the contribution of solar and wind to the grid, in megawatts. It swings sharply with sun and weather, drives midday price dips and evening ramps, and sits at the centre of carbon-intensity and curtailment work.

CAISO is the most solar-heavy grid in North America, so these series swing hard across the day.

Who uses renewable output

  • Carbon-intensity and clean-energy accounting.
  • Solar and wind curtailment and ramp analysis.
  • Pairing renewable supply with battery dispatch.
  • ESG and sustainability reporting.
